Where we last left off, Galekin Estates burned. It was under siege as a drow wizard summoned a fire elemental and unleashed it upon the defenders to burn the heroes out. The air crackled with incinerating heat, searing the lungs of anyone nearby and turning the very ground to ash. The elemental threatened to turn the siege into an inferno.
As the summoned fire creature was being dealt with, a chorus of panicked screams ripped through the villager ranks: “Is someone throwing zombies!”
From the shadowed edge of the battlefield to the northeast, it emerged: a towering monstrosity of bone and rot, an undead hill giant. With horrifying efficiency, it scooped up handfuls of reanimated drow soldiers. Their once-proud features were marred by decay, their pointed ears drooping, their violet eyes now clouded and milky white and vacant of any intelligent thought. They were then hurled like fleshy cannonballs over the hastily constructed barricades.
The undead hill giant’s gruesome siege artillery was relentless, raining down reanimated corpses upon Galekin Estate. But it was not mindless brute force that orchestrated this assault.
From behind the monstrous siege engine, a drow necromancer strode onto the field of carnage, her face a mask of cruel delight and her eyes burning with malevolent necrotic power. Her every gesture was a dark symphony of necromantic power, driving the undead tide against the beleaguered defenders.
Galekin Estates was no longer a sanctuary but a crucible of death. The battle for survival had begun anew, a desperate struggle waged amidst the chaos of flying corpses. The curtain had risen on a new act of the siege, and the heroes were about to dance with death itself. They were on death’s ground.
We now join the battle already in progress.
