Where we last left off, twilight continued, a constant reminder of the eclipse covering the sun Scomatch. However, hope lay within the Krelgar Keep’s crumbling walls. A possible entrance into the Underdark, and a chance to restore the Vidrefact with the Moonshard crystal.
Before the party, there was one last door to the north. Etched into the wood, in the graceful flowing script of the Elves it read: “Dead Inside! Don’t Open!”
A sense of unease settled over the party, but curiosity dictated a different course of action. The group decided to investigate the trio of doors that remained unopened to the south.
But as Ary and Nick Beardless reached for the nearest handle, a monstrous wave of muscle and malice surged forth as six hulking Bugbears erupted into the confined space. However, the brutes were not alone.
Emerging from the shadows behind them, a contingent of six Drow warriors materialized. With practiced precision, they unleashed a volley of poisoned darts. Wynter was struck along with All the Cookies, who dreamed again of that plush couch from Adrick’s Folly.
An inferno erupted as Scomatch unleashed a roaring fireball upon their foes.
Nick Beardless then bellowed the immortal words, “Inuk Chuk!” The Duergar’s ‘heart’ as well as his body grew three sizes that day.
All the cookies, knowing the group had this, continued to take dragonborn-naps throughout the battle, while Wynter’s cast ice knife, missing, yet, with that near miss, a dormant power stirred within her, a latent potential waiting to be unleashed.
The battle raged, each side trading blows, but the party had triumphed. Now the hunt for hot dogs hidden amongst the bushes began.
Searching the three southern rooms, Wynter managed to trigger every trap present, learning some newfound knowledge about Dungeons and Dragons and chests possibly filled with hot dogs.
Alive, but battered, bruised, the weary adventurers knew their limits had been reached. They decided to take a long rest, to heal their wounds, before delving deeper into Krelgar Keep.
