Episode 31 - Drow Attack

When last we left our heroes, the battle-weary party had just felled a pack of Manticores. Eagerly approaching their five treasure chests, the wood grain rippled unnaturally and the hinges twitched like living muscle. With a sickening snap, the chests split open, revealing rows of jagged teeth and lashing tongues!

  •  You quickly dispatched the five Mimics as they surged forward, but the encounter left the party even more drained.

  • Searching the cavern revealed the true Manticore treasure: a few mundane, "shiny" trinkets the beasts had collected.

Pressing on eastward without rest, wary of any more side tunnels, you reached a narrow choke point. A sudden, metallic PING echoed through the passage—an arrow had ricocheted off the wall!

  • Drow warriors materialized from the shadows along the high ledges, and you heard one sneer in Elven, "Looks like we'll get in some target practice after all!"

  • The first barrage of arrows struck fast, with one tip slicing Wynter's skin, sending her immediately to sleep due to the drow's sleeping poison.

The party sprang into action!

  • Nick Beardless's heart grew three sizes that day as he cried, "inook chook!" and Apache Chief, with the help of a Jump Spell leaped onto the western ledge with the drow archers.

  • Ahl d'Kukyz turned invisible, sprouted his wings, and took to the air to unleash his spells.

  • Ary charged toward the far group of enemies.

  • Scomitch revived Wynter, then utilized perfectly timed Command spells to group the dark elves together, allowing Wynter to use her Druid space-laser to nuke the drow from orbit.

The threat was defeated, but among the dead, you found a high-ranking male drow outfitted with magical gear. More importantly, he wore the same insignia of House Gullion—the house of Makinnga, the female drow who tasked you with using the Moonshard crystal to restore the Vidrefacte, her mother, Matron Maelora’s source of power, through which brought about the Prophesy of Renwick!  The restored crystal would then alert the Vidre to reclaim their most precious stone, restoring the sun Scomatch, and then the party would bring about her mother’s downfall, so Makinnga could then ascend to be the New Matron Mother of House Gullion.
