When we last left our heroes, with gold burning in their bag of holding, the party decided to do a little shopping in the great dwarven city of Hammerhand. After stocking up on supplies and healing potions, they decided to visit the Embla Museum, hoping to unravel the mystery behind a strange stamp marked with shattered chains and ancient conflict on Cinderbeard’s hoard.
The museum sat in one of Hammerhand’s forgotten quarters, its weather‑worn sign bearing the same symbol and the inscription: “Embla’s Truth is in the stone. – Dhoram Blackshale.” Inside, a lone duergar curator revealed a buried history: Hammerhand was once Embla, a proud Duergar city, until the founders of Hammerhand, known as The Six Stone-Thieves, slew King Vorn Blackshale and drove his people into the Underdark.
The party then turned to Clan Blackroot’s most urgent problem. Myconids had seized the eastern Fungus Farm, blocking access to the sacred Blackroot needed for the clan’s rites. Whether by force, diplomacy, or daring retrieval, the harvest had to be secured before it spoiled.
Cutting through a cluster of shriekers, the party was confronted by a Myconid Sovereign who conveyed their desperation: the Dreamsong—the spiritual heart of their colony—had been corrupted. If the heroes wished to help, they would need to enter it.
Inside the Dreamsong’s surreal haze, each adventurer faced a mirror-like pool. It reflected their own image, twisted by fungus, tendrils, and glowing pustules. One by one, these doppelgangers rose from the pool and toward them with an intent most sinister.
