Episode 37 - The Fungal Five

Previously on All Drow, All the Time, the heroes turned their attention to Clan Blackroot’s most urgent crisis. Myconids had overrun the eastern Fungus Farm, cutting the dwarves off from the sacred Blackroot needed for their rites.

Instead of hostility, the party encountered a Myconid Sovereign who, conveying that their Dreamsong, the psychic heart of their colony, had been corrupted, and requested aid to purge it.

Stepping into the Dreamsong’s swirling haze, each adventurer approached a still, mirror‑like pool. Their reflections twisted into fungal parodies of themselves. One by one, these doppelgangers emerged and headed toward the party with an intent most sinister.

Battling a fungal version of themselves, upon each of their fungal opponent's defeat, the doppelganger's roots to the terrain were severed.  An echo of a corrupted Myconid sovereign appeared mist-like before fading away.

The party eventually emerged victorious, having won a hard-pressed fight and possibly learning something new about themselves in the process.   The party awoke back in the Blackroot Grove, the air thick with spores.

The Myconid Sovereign announced, “The corruption is purged. The Dreamsong is clean once more. We no longer require the dwarven Blackroot. The pact is fulfilled. The grove calls us home. May your roots grow deep, and your shadows remain your own.”

With that, the Myconids vanished into the mist of spores, leaving the grove silent once more.

Two tasks of the Anvil Circle are now complete. Two remain:

Clan Ironchaser

Elite scouts had vanished in the Whistling Caves. A labyrinth of wind‑carved tunnels filled with eerie harmonics and deadly pressure pockets. Find the scouts or recover their stone journals detailing the creatures they encountered in the Underdark.

Clan Stonewater

The Deepflow, the sacred river beneath Hammerhand, had gone still. Descend into the Drowned Sanctum, discover what halted the waters, and restore the river before the city suffers.
